Again, it has been taken while I was in "Antakya" trip. There was an interesting place (a chamber with a grave), some sort of holly shrine, however there was not enough information around there; so I only heard that place was the meeting point of Hidir and Moses. People are collecting interesting stuffs in that chamber. This image is one corner of the room, in the other corner there were pieces of clothes, hair and wax. Actually, I dont know what are those objects in this photo; but they seemed interesting to me...

I have performed a quick search through the web and I found that Hidir is the one of the famous prophet in Islamic beliefs. Meaning of Hidir is "green" in arabic, also they belive that Hidir has a miraculous ability to convert deserts to forests.

The yellowish liquid you see in the middle must be oil, I think it is olive oil (I'm not sure, though). If I remember rightly it is believed that it has a curing function (I guess it is heated, at least the oil seemed always warm to me). The chalices you see on the right side contains ember where people put "bahur" on it - I don't know what it is made of. Heated it produces fume which has a specific smell - people pray with the chalice in their hands (not obligatory! may be.)
The "chamber" is used as a place for praying, I think it is the normal holy place to live out the belief, just like a mosque or a church.
The cloths, usually green, are used to prevent the "evil look" (nazar), I think. I have seen it normally around the wrist of children. After it has fulfilled its "task" you don't throw it away but tie it to a tree, for example.
Bildiklerim bu kadar sanirim. Güzeldir, huzur verici, ayrica sosyal taraflari da var, etrafinda toplanip piknik yapma vesaire :-)

Shrines are wonderful I think, whether they be in the context of religious acts, or the shrines where people exhibit their symbolic values in fine cabinets or special picked out corners of their homes. The fact that we chose a special place for focusing on what we find special, is such an interesting thing about us humans... I always feel in awe when I witness a such shrine; the candles in a church, the offerings in temples, or a collection of memorabilia or a group of family photos on a mantelpiece…
